1. Our Position
Safari Hunts believes that well-regulated, ethical hunting is a cornerstone of African wildlife conservation. Legal hunting generates revenue that funds anti-poaching operations, habitat preservation, and community development across Southern Africa.
We exist to connect responsible hunters with verified, ethical outfitters — never to facilitate illegal or unethical practices. Every listing on our platform represents an outfitter who has been vetted against strict professional standards.
Conservation is not a marketing line for Safari Hunts. It is the foundation on which the platform was built and the standard against which every outfitter, booking, and practice is measured.
2. Verified Outfitters Only
Every outfitter on Safari Hunts must hold valid accreditation from their country's recognised professional hunting body. We verify credentials before any listing goes live and conduct periodic re-verification to ensure ongoing compliance.
- South Africa PHASA — Professional Hunters' Association of South Africa
- Zimbabwe ZPGA — Zimbabwe Professional Guides Association
- Namibia NAPHA — Namibian Professional Hunting Association
- Mozambique ANAC — Administração Nacional das Áreas de Conservação
Outfitters who lose their accreditation, fail re-verification, or are the subject of substantiated complaints will have their listings suspended immediately.
3. CITES Compliance
Species listed under CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) are clearly marked on all Safari Hunts listings. Outfitters operating on Safari Hunts are required to hunt within national quotas and obtain all necessary export, re-export, and import permits before any trophy shipment takes place.
Safari Hunts does not facilitate trade in species where hunting is prohibited under national law or international treaty. Where US Fish & Wildlife Service import restrictions apply — such as certain lion and elephant populations — these restrictions are clearly disclosed to the hunter before booking.
4. Fair Chase
Safari Hunts promotes fair chase hunting as the only acceptable standard. The animal must have a reasonable opportunity to evade the hunter in its natural habitat. We do not list or support:
- Canned hunting — animals released into enclosed areas for immediate hunting
- Captive-bred lion hunting
- Baiting of plains game
- Any practice prohibited by the outfitter's accrediting body
Outfitters found to engage in any of these practices will be permanently removed from the platform without notice.
5. Conservation Contribution
Hunting fees paid through Safari Hunts directly fund conservation and community outcomes on the ground. Across our partner outfitters, these revenues support:
- Anti-poaching patrols and ranger salaries
- Habitat restoration and water infrastructure
- Community conservation programmes that create local employment and economic benefit
- Wildlife veterinary care and disease management
- Scientific research and population monitoring
Without the economic incentive that legal hunting provides, vast tracts of African wilderness would be converted to agriculture or left unprotected. Hunting keeps wild land wild.
6. Hunter Responsibilities
Every hunter who books through Safari Hunts is expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct, both in the field and in their interactions with outfitters, guides, and local communities.
- Comply with all local and international hunting laws at all times
- Respect bag limits and permit conditions without exception
- Practise ethical shot placement — no unethical or reckless shooting
- Treat farm staff, professional hunters, and local communities with respect
- Carry adequate insurance, including medevac cover for dangerous game hunts
- Report any suspected illegal activity to Safari Hunts and the relevant local authorities
Hunters who violate these standards may be suspended from the platform and reported to the appropriate regulatory body.
7. Our Commitment
Safari Hunts commits to the following actions as a platform operator in the African hunting industry:
- Investigate all reports of unethical conduct promptly and thoroughly
- Suspend listings pending investigation where evidence warrants it
- Permanently ban outfitters found to facilitate illegal hunting
- Cooperate fully with national and international authorities in enforcement actions
- Donate a portion of platform revenue to conservation initiatives across our operating countries (details to be published)
We hold ourselves to the same standard we demand of our outfitters. If we fall short, we expect our community to tell us.
8. Report a Concern
If you witness or suspect illegal or unethical hunting activity connected to a Safari Hunts booking, contact us immediately at [email protected] or use the in-platform report function available on every booking and listing page.
All reports are treated confidentially. Where appropriate, we will involve the relevant professional hunting association and law enforcement authorities.
