Melodi Safaris is an owner-run hunting outfit led by Makena Ngoato — a licensed hunting outfitter and dangerous-game professional hunter operating across five South African provinces. Each hunt is a curated journey: depending on the species and your preferred method of take, we select from a range of exclusive private concessions in the North West bushveld, just over two hours from O.R. Tambo International Airport — malaria-free country. The bushveld offers natural concealment while demanding precision: dry grass, rustling leaves and scattered twigs challenge the hunter's stealth, turning every step into a strategic decision. It is fair-chase hunting that rewards patience, awareness and mastery. For bow hunters, our mountain-top concession is a standout — equipped with a practice range and expertly designed hides. Above all, Melodi is committed to ethical hunting: we strictly discourage shooting from vehicles except where accessibility is essential, such as accommodating hunters with physical disabilities. THE CAMP Depending on the hunt, you will be based in a serviced lodge or tented camp — both available, with en-suite rooms, air-conditioning, WiFi and cell signal. Groups can take the camp exclusive-use. Linen, toiletries, meals, drinks and laundry are all provided. Breakfast is light (with a full African breakfast available at a small charge), lunch is packed for the field, and dinner is a full-course meal prepared by our chef — often the game you hunted, done the traditional way around the fire. Special dietary requests are welcome. English and Setswana are spoken fluently. Families and observers are welcome, the camp is disability-friendly, and well-behaved hunting dogs can be accommodated by arrangement. THE HUNTING Rifle, bow, crossbow, walk-and-stalk and hunting from blinds are all offered. Plains game, dangerous game (buffalo, crocodile and hippo hunts arranged on request) and dedicated wingshooting — doves and pigeons over sunflower fields, waterfowl at dawn, upland birds over pointing dogs and traditional driven guineafowl. Wingshooting peak season is 1 May to 30 July. All packages run 7 days: 5 full hunting days and 2 travel days. DAILY RATES US$450 per day 1×1 (one hunter, one professional hunter) · US$350 per day per hunter 2×1 · observers US$250 per day. Arrival and departure days are charged as full hunting days. The daily rate includes accommodation, transport on the hunting territory, guiding by your PH, field trophy preparation, all meals, snacks and soft drinks, laundry, and the services of camp staff and skinners. Not included: flights, airport pick-up/drop-off (US$300 per vehicle), taxidermy and shipping, firearm rental (US$50/day), ammunition, liquor, hunting licences and permits, touring, and gratuities. BOOKING & DEPOSIT A 30% deposit secures your reservation, paid through Safari Hunts and held in escrow until your hunt is confirmed — protection for you and for the outfitter. HEALTH & SAFETY All concessions carry fully equipped medical kits with telephone or radio communication for emergencies, and proper healthcare is never far away. Melodi's camps and concessions are in malaria-free areas — no vaccinations are required for South Africa, though tetanus and hepatitis A and B are recommended; check with your travel clinic. PRICE ON REQUEST Crocodile, hippopotamus, Livingstone eland, vaal rhebok, sable over 40" and buffalo cow hunts are quoted on request — send an enquiry with your dates. NOW BOOKING 2027 — AT 2026 PRICES The 2026 season has closed early. 2027 dates are open, and any booking placed now is honoured at the current rates, provided the 30% deposit is paid before the end of November 2026.

All accommodation is in the main lodge — a 6-bedroom private camp built from local stone and hardwood. Exclusive use only. You share the reserve with no other hunting parties.

All hunts at Thornridge are led by Werner personally. He does not subcontract. If Werner is unavailable on your preferred dates, the farm will offer alternative dates rather than assign a substitute PH. Maximum 2 hunters per PH at all times.
