African Sun Adventures is an Eastern Cape outfitter run by owner and professional hunter Larno Rens, a PHASA full member. "We are not living in Africa, Africa is living in us" is the line the outfit lives by, and the hunting is built around it: every safari is customised to the hunter's interests and budget, and hunts are conducted on carefully selected concessions across the Eastern Cape, the thicket, mountain and open-veld country that holds the province's classic species. A Namibian leg can be arranged for dangerous game and desert species on request. Hunters have travelled with Larno and his family for more than a decade, from first-time African hunters to groups of seven, and observers and families are welcome: the Garden Route's Bloukrans bungee, Storms River kayaking, shark-cage diving, golf, hiking and cultural tours can all be built into the trip. THE HUNTING Walk-and-stalk plains game is the core of the season, with rifle and bow hunters both catered for (bow hunters at the same daily rate), night hunting for the nocturnal species, and dangerous game for those who want it. The Eastern Cape list runs from kudu, bushbuck, nyala, eland, gemsbok, red hartebeest and both wildebeest to the specialities the province is known for: bontebok, blue duiker, Cape grysbok, vaal rhebok, mountain reedbuck, oribi and klipspringer, plus fallow deer, red lechwe, sable, roan and Cape buffalo. Elephant, leopard and cheetah are hunted in Namibia on request. Every trophy fee on the price list is loaded on this listing. Fees exclude the US$250 dipping and transfer to the local taxidermist and government tax on trophies; bushpig with dogs and lynx with dogs are quoted separately. THE CAMP Guests stay in a fully catered camp with en-suite rooms and a tented-camp option: eight rooms for up to eight hunters, meals and drinks included, a bush chef, boma and bar, laundry, WiFi and cell signal, a pool, and a shooting range to check rifles on arrival. Trophies are handled on site with a skinning shed, cold room and trophy preparation before transfer to the taxidermist. Non-hunters, families and children are welcome, and game drives and fishing fill the off days. The nearest airport is Gqeberha (PLZ), and airport transfers are included in the daily rate. DAILY RATES Daily rates: US$450 per hunter per day for one hunter with one professional hunter, US$400 per hunter per day for two hunters sharing a PH, bow hunters US$450, observers and non-hunters US$290, and arrival and departure days US$250 per person. The daily rate includes the professional hunter, skinner and tracker, accommodation, laundry, catering and drinks, airport transfers, the trophy hunting licence and 15% government tax on day fees. It excludes airfare, trophy fees, gratuities, taxidermy, the US$250 dipping and transfer fee, rifle hire and ammunition, and hotel nights outside camp. Six all-in packages, three 7-day plains game packages and three 6-day specials, are listed below.

All accommodation is in the main lodge — a 6-bedroom private camp built from local stone and hardwood. Exclusive use only. You share the reserve with no other hunting parties.
All hunts at Thornridge are led by Werner personally. He does not subcontract. If Werner is unavailable on your preferred dates, the farm will offer alternative dates rather than assign a substitute PH. Maximum 2 hunters per PH at all times.
Enter your dates and party size below to see a live price estimate. You pay 50% of the daily rates now (held in Safari Hunts escrow), the 50% balance 90 days before arrival, and trophy fees at the farm for the animals you actually take. No upfront trust required.
